About Formanova
Structured Learning for People Who Do the Work
Formanova exists to give working managers in Malaysia access to rigorous, structured business education that fits around the job they already have.

How Formanova Came to Be
Formanova was founded in Kuala Lumpur by a group of managers who had spent years sitting in training sessions that covered theory well but stopped short of the operational reality. The research was always rigorous, the frameworks often elegant — but when participants returned to their desks on Monday, the gap between course content and actual decision-making remained wide.
The school started small, with a single course on research practice designed for product teams. The idea was simple: teach the same methods used by experienced researchers, stripped of academic overhead and anchored in the kinds of decisions Malaysian product and commercial teams face each week. The response from participants shaped what followed.
Over time, the curriculum expanded to include a growth operations track and, eventually, the Senior Practice Programme — a longer-form offering for managers preparing to operate at a more strategic level. Each addition followed the same design principle: a defined scope, a realistic time commitment, and documented work that participants can point to when they leave.
Formanova remains a small school by design. Cohorts are kept to a size where peer learning is meaningful, advisers can give real attention, and the teaching does not drift into broadcast mode. The office at Jalan Kuchai Lama is where most in-person sessions take place. The team is Malaysian; the cases and examples are drawn from Southeast Asia; the orientation is practical throughout.
Mission
To make good management thinking accessible to working professionals
We want people who are doing the job to have access to the same quality of structured thinking that is usually reserved for full-time students or senior executives in large organisations. No surplus. No fluff. Just what is needed to reason better and act more deliberately.
Approach
Small cohorts, defined scope, written deliverables
Every programme at Formanova ends with work the participant has produced — not a certificate you frame, but a document, a portfolio or an assessment that reflects what was learned and applied. We think that matters more than hours attended.

Standards
How We Maintain Programme Quality
Defined Scope per Programme
Every programme has a written specification covering what is included, what is not included, the session sequence, and the assessment criteria. Participants receive this before enrolling.
Practitioner-Led Teaching
Teaching is delivered by people currently working in or recently returned from the roles the programmes address. We do not use academic faculty whose primary context is institutional research.
Written Assessments as Standard
Every programme concludes with assessed written work rather than participation certificates. Assessment criteria are shared in advance and reviewed by at least two members of the teaching team.
Data and Privacy Practices
Participant information is held securely and used only for programme administration. We do not share participant data with third parties for marketing or any other purpose without explicit consent.
Annual Curriculum Review
Each programme is reviewed against participant feedback and changes in the professional environment at least once per year. Session content that no longer reflects current practice is updated or replaced.
Cohort Size Limits
Cohorts are capped to maintain the quality of peer learning and ensure advisers and facilitators can give meaningful attention. We do not run programmes at a scale where individual progress becomes invisible.
Our Values
What We Stand Behind
Formanova's position is that the quality of management thinking in an organisation has an outsized effect on the quality of decisions made at every level below it. When managers reason more clearly about what they know and what they do not know, the people working with them tend to make better decisions too — not because of instruction, but because the standard of thinking around them has shifted.
This is why the programmes place so much weight on measurement discipline and on the honest framing of uncertainty. It is not a methodological preference; it is a practical stance on what good management looks like in environments where data is abundant but conclusions are often drawn too quickly.
Malaysia's commercial environment is increasingly sophisticated, and the professionals working within it deserve access to education that matches that sophistication — built around the actual challenges of building and running businesses in this market, not adapted from case libraries assembled elsewhere.
Expertise
Where Our Knowledge Sits
The three core areas of Formanova's curriculum — research practice, growth operations, and senior leadership — were not chosen at random. They represent the transitions that produce the most friction in the careers of working managers: moving from intuition to evidence, from activity to measurement, and from execution to strategy.
Each programme is designed by people who navigated those transitions in working roles, not in academic settings. The expertise is applied rather than theoretical, and the curriculum reflects that: the materials, examples and case work are drawn from real operational situations encountered in Southeast Asian business contexts.
Formanova does not claim expertise across every domain of management education. The scope is deliberately narrow so that what we do teach, we teach well.
